BUTLER, Thomas. Pte 3158 2/5Scottish Rifles, 307834 18th Royal Tank Corps.
Thomas was born in 1898 and joined up on 6 June 1916 when he was a gardner aged 18. He lived at 2 Poplar Court Yarm with his mother and brother Charles William Buttler born in 1908. He left for France on 7 October 1916. On 24 January 1918 he was moved to the Royal Tank Corps where he remained until the end of the war. He was demobilised to Yarm 0n 3 March 1919.
